“Be away with you annoying small change!”
Another trend we’re fond of talking at length about is the move to a cashless society.
“Be away with you annoying small change!” we say (and sometimes we do get the odd strange look). That’s why when we see McDonalds leading the way we smile...
Prince Charles may consider the fast food chain the scourge of the diabetic world, but in Japan they are pressing ahead with a new way to buy your Big Mac, Coke and fries.
They’re teaming up with the main Japanese mobile phone operator NTT DoCoMo to allow burger loving punters pay with their mobile phones.
Chiltern Railways and Westminster Council are at it as well
But wait a minute – those technology loving folk from Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto aren’t the only ones paying for things with their mobile phones.
In Westminster, drivers can now pay for their parking with a text or phone call. This means if you’re worried about your time running out, you don’t have to rush back to put another 20p in the meter – you can simply send another text.
The parking attendants can check by entering your registration number into a handheld computer.
And it gets even better. If you want to travel on Chiltern Railways, you can buy your ticket on the internet and a barcode will be delivered to your mobile phone. Once you get to the station you simply swipe the barcode as proof of your ticket.
Wow!
I’m going to have a word to the Profit Watch Recommends team about this development – it could take off any day...
There are bound to be ways to play this – and if there are, the PWR boys will sniff them out...
And then we’ll put YOU in the driving seat!
